For 15 years, Phil Parisot has served as one of the Pacific Northwest’s leading drummers. He has extensive experience in contemporary musical settings, balanced with an understanding of various 20th century musical traditions. Lingo, his recent recording as a leader, draws upon an array of influences, including funk, Afro-Cuban, rock, and symphonic, all molded seamlessly into a cohesive modern jazz package.
Phil has shared the bandstand with many notable jazz artists, including Aaron Parks, Sara Gazarek, Tatum Greenblatt, Jumaane Smith, Rob Scheps, Tim Armacost, the late Don Lanphere, Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Alexey Nikolaev, Sam Barsh, Josh Nelson, Dawn Clement, Jon Hamar, and Jovino Santos Neto. He has been a member of groups led by northwest luminaries Jay Thomas, Jim Knapp, John Hansen, Kelley Johnson, and Andy Coe.

From 2004-2008, he was a member of Big Neighborhood, a quartet featuring guitarist David White, saxophonist Chris Fagan, and bassist Doug Miller. The group won critical acclaim for its advanced compositions and fluid approach to odd meters. Big Neighborhood released two albums (Neighbors and 11:11) which were nominated for several Earshot Golden Ear awards and received extensive jazz radio play.

Phil’s current quartet, featured on Lingo, includes saxophonist Steve Treseler, pianist Dan Kramlich, and bassist Michael Glynn.
