Black Cat is located in the heart of San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood, the historic arts and entertainment district once home to great supper clubs and fabled jazz venues such as Blackhawk. Tapping into that legacy, Black Cat is a refined social dining experience featuring a modern American supper club menu. Drawing from global inspiration, Chef Ryan Cantwell has created delicious and satisfying plates meant to be shared amongst great company. Whether stopping by for a quick bite or indulging in one of everything with a large group – our menu features a range of items to suit every dining scenario. Bar Manager Gabriel Lowe heads up our vivacious cocktail program, serving up a mix of classic cocktails and seasonal signatures, all artfully executed. Our 90-bottle wine list, curated by Wine Director Eugenio Jardim, highlights international and artisanal varietals including unique grower-producer champagnes, at an approachable price point.

Founding Partner Fritz Quattlebaum and Operations Partner Khalid Mushasha were inspired from the get-go by the historic space and vibrant surrounding neighborhood, immediately recognizing they had unearthed an architectural gem unlike anything in San Francisco. On his first visit to the space Fritz was drawn to the name “Black Cat”, not knowing that a fabled supper club by the same name existed two blocks away more than a century ago. The bi-level interior, thoughtfully designed by Craige Walters, brings a timeless grit-meets-glam aesthetic, featuring blackened exposed brick walls, photo murals, lush antique velvet, distressed leather and vintage gold finishes. The sexy lighting and intimate nooks create a seductive atmosphere, while contrasting visual touches encourage a sense of discovery with every visit.

Black Cat is open seven days a week, between the hours of 5:30pm and 2:00am. Dinner reservations are available starting at 5:30pm with the last reservation for the evening at midnight. A bar menu is offered until 1:30am. Downstairs@Black Cat will feature frequent live entertainment, including jazz and a cabaret revue, designed to surprise and delight our guests. Black Cat hopes to embody the original irreverent spirit of the Tenderloin and offer something for everyone.
