Since graduating from the Hartt School of Music in 1997, Jimmy Greene has risen steadily and conscientiously to the position of “one of the most striking young tenors of recent years.” (Tony Hall, Jazzwise UK). His 2015 album Beautiful Life (Mack Avenue) was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards: in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category, and for Best Arrangement (Instruments and Vocals) for the track “When I Come Home” with vocal by Javier Colon. Other acclaimed Jimmy Greene CDs include Mission Statement (RazDaz/Sunnyside), The Overcomers Suite (NuJazz), and Brave New World (RCA BMG). In addition, he’s performed on more than 75 albums as a sideman, and has toured and/or recorded with Horace Silver, Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard, Harry Connick, Jr., and Kenny Barron, to name a few. This week, Jimmy Greene makes a welcome return to our stage at the helm of an all–star quintet including guitarist Lage Lund, pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Kendrick Scott.
